Bebo Ferra  Trio

VOLTAGE

Bebo Ferra, guitar

Gianluca Di Ienno, Hammond organ

Nicola Angelucci, drums

Bebo Ferra formed his own organ trio, joining forces with Gianluca Di Ienno on the Hammond organ and Nicola Angelucci on the drums, two of the most interesting and esteemed artists of their generation, and with whom the guitarist revives and renews the genre. In addition to the trio’s repertoire, constantly revitalized thanks to Ferra’s prolificacy as a composer, what stands out from his other projects is the difference in sound: indeed, while keeping the special characteristics of his writing intact, of which lyricism and polyrhythm are the main attributes, the musical spectrum is broader and more “electric” in comparison with his other musical projects, more acoustic and intimate. The trio’s album “Voltage” was released in 2016 on Tuk Records.

TRES CONTINENTES

NEW

Rita Marcotulli, piano

Bebo Ferra, guitar

"Tres Continentes" is the original and unusual musical encounter between profoundly different cultures, i.e. Asian, Mediterranean and South American, which triggers an evocative journey into a multicolored world of sound. Each one of the “Tres Continentes” is identifiable in the composition’s style which, along the journey, is enriched by attributes of the other two “continentes”, thanks to Trio members’ incredible capacity for improvisation and interaction that gives life to an open, creative, intense and poetic musical dialogue. Aska Kaneko, Bebo Ferra and Carlos “El Tero” Buschini are three refined composers and three masters of their instruments, united by their shared conviction that music is an essential means of communication and expression of freedom.

RITA MARCOTULLI

& BEBO FERRA

Rita Marcotulli, piano

Poeticalness, vigor, color, creativity are the predominant qualities that characterize Rita Marcotulli and Ferra’s original compositions. Both artists, who have been working together for over a decade, consider jazz as a thought and a language in continuous transformation, as well as a means of exploring new ways of synthesizing their European and Mediterranean roots. Thanks to the intense expressivity of their playing, supported by a flawless technique, Marcotulli and Ferra transform the chamber intimacy of their acoustic duo into a well-structured and potent proposal, be it through their own compositions or standards from the movie soundtrack and pop music repertoires. The poetical dimension of their themes, the interplay and interchanging of roles between their two instruments, sustained by a constant creative and melodic tension, combined to their natural rhythmic empathy, all make for a dynamic and richly nuanced musical performance, which leaves a deep impression on their audience.

METAFISICA   NEW

Bebo Ferra, guitar

Fulvio Sigurtà, trumpet, flugelhorn

Salvatore Maiore, double bass

Alessandro Paternesi, drums

In forming this new combo the Sardinian guitarist Bebo Ferra availed himself of the collaboration of three amongst the most esteemed musicians in the international and national jazz panorama. Ferra’s compositions are highly evocative, with a strong narrative streak; the melodies, built upon a dense, richly nuanced and expressive harmonic structure, belong to a broader and more complex harmonic discourse, whose ultimate purpose is the exaltation of melodiousness. And it is exactly to that end that Ferra has chosen those who can accompany him best in the fulfillment of the project: Fulvio Sigurtà on the trumpet, Salvatore Maiore on the double bass and Alessandro Paternesi on the drums. Each of these musicians is gifted with a fully-fledged artistic personality and identity together with the capacity of committing his own talent to the construction and development of a poetical journey.

SIMUL

Bebo Ferra, guitars

Andrea Dulbecco, vibraphone, marimba

After almost twenty years of making music together and now a disc, “Simul” celebrates a partnership that is not only musical but above all personal. It tells of a friendship and a complicity in constant expansion both within and without the boundaries of music.

Andrea Dulbecco, originally from Liguria but who moved to Milan at a young age, has an academic training in classical music and graduated in classical percussion and piano at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, where he now teaches. He has developed his career both in contemporary music and jazz. Bebo Ferra, entirely autodidactic, is of Sardinian origins but also Milanese by adoption. Since always he has devoted his talent to jazz but has also developed in parallel his compositional skills, that combine complexity and lyricism, winning over critics and public alike.

The unconstraint and naturalness with which the two artists interlace their instruments in a repertoire that ranges from original compositions to works from great authors such as Lee Konitz or Jim Hall and even Cole Porter, bestow to each of their concerts both depth and lightness, putting their audience at ease and making them feel part of what is going on stage.
